Born in Santa Cruz in 1950's California, O'Neill founder Jack O'Neill saw the potential for neoprene as an active material and was the very first person to introduce wet suits to the world. Since then O'Neill have become one of the biggest names in surf and snowboard wear and have been at the forefront of both industries ever since.
FACT: Along with inventing the wet-suit, Jack O’Neill also invented the surf leash designed to keep the surfboard tethered to the surfer’s wrist. While testing an early model, he lost an eye and now wears an eye-patch, giving him an oddly appropriate pirate-y look.
