Completing the Munros (to use the archaic spelling) is a popular challenge to hillwalkers in Scotland, and to date over 3,000 have recorded this achievement with the Clerk of the List with The Munro Society. Some, indeed, have gone on to do them all over again!

A recent major revision of Munros Tables resulted in eight new Munros and one demotion. Fuller details will be found in the New Munros page. At about the same time, the Munros guidebook had all but sold out. The SMC took this opportunity to work on a new edition of the book, complete with a new design, maps and photographs with the resulting publication shown above.
