Bonington Mountaineer: My Life Story

Bonington Mountaineer looks at the life of one of Britain’s and the world’s greatest climbers, Sir Chris Bonington, as it tells the stories of friendships, love, risk and devastating loss through his life.

Part of the first British ascent of the Eiger, Bonington was also the first to ascent the famous ‘The Old Man of Hoy’ in Orkney and the first to stand on the summits of Annapurna 2, Nuptse and the Central Tower of Paine.

The film looks retrospectively, from his rock climbing days in the UK through to visionary ascents on the high peaks of the Himalaya and shares the remarkable and poignant life of one of the world’s best-known mountaineers.

The 80-minute feature length documentary film by Brian Hall and Keith Patridge has a release date of 20th November 2017 and will be available on DVD and for download via
