The Great Outdoors Awards 2016: Gear of the Year

18th November 2016

The Great Outdoors Magazine held its annual awards bash on Thursday, celebrating the great and good of the outdoor industry.

If you missed our announcements several weeks back, Nevisport was nominated alongside some big hitters in the Chain Retailer of the Year section. Unfortunately, we didn’t pick up the gong, but to be nominated was great all the same. Maybe next year!

Rab picked up the Brand of the Year gong and you can check out their range of products here.

Gear of the Year

The second section of the night was their ‘Gear of the Year awards’, as chosen by the judging panel which included Chris Townsend, Judy Armstrong, Mike Parsons, Emily Rodway and Will Renwick.

Nevisport’s ethos has always been to provide our customers with the best outdoor products available and with that in mind, here is a list of ten products nominated in The Great Outdoors Awards – including one winner and two highly commended products:

Haglöfs Essens Mimic Jacket

One of the big winners on the night, Haglöfs Essens Mimic Jacket won the clothing of the year gong at the awards bash and it is no great surprise to see why. The jacket utilises the unique QuadFusion™ Mimic material in its insulation and absorbs less water in rough conditions than its competitors.

Add to that a lightweight 30D tear and wind-resistant DWR-treated Pertex® shell [fluorocarbon-free for great environmental credentials] it is constructed for superior warmth and dryness.

The ergonomic design, articulated sleeves and Polartec® Powerstretch® shoulder inserts keep the wearer free from restriction and agile. Mini-quilted for structure and warmth, the jacket contains enough storage space for the essentials.

Nevisport stocks both the mens and womens version of Essens Mimic Jacket.
